Adventure Learning (2010)

  • To foster growth and enhance the well-being of children and families through enjoyable, nature-based, active learning experiences. Adventure Learning believes that the foundation of a sustainable society requires children to learn resilience, cooperation, self-confidence, and connection between our everyday lives and the natural world.

Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse (2008, 2010)

  • Provides support and safety for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and non-offending family members and friends.  Services are provided to Whitman and Latah county residents free of charge, confidentially and without discrimination. Services include 24-hour telephone or in-person crisis intervention; emergency, confidential shelter; legal and medical advocacy; individual and group support; information and referral; and community education.

Backyard Harvest (2008-2015)

  • Connects low income families, seniors, and individuals with fresh, local produce.  Backyard Harvest relies on volunteers who share their backyard bounty and extra fruit to help make sure that everyone in our community has healthy food to eat.

Community Action Center (2007-2015)

  • A primary source of support for the more than 5,000 people who are living in poverty in Whitman County. Offers services ranging from emergency and transitional housing, food supplements, and energy assistance to legal referral, rental assistance, weatherization, home rehab and home purchase assistance. Whitman County Community Action Center fights to reduce poverty, build strong independent families, and a better community.

    • The J/K Good Samaritan Food Bank serving Juliaetta and Kendrick, ID
    • The Moscow Food Bank (St. Mary’s Church) and Trinity Moscow Food Pantry serving Moscow, ID and Latah County
    • The Palouse Food Pantry serving Palouse, WA
    • The Potlatch Food Bank in Potlatch, ID

Families Together (2009-2015)

  • Families Together was founded in 1986 in Pullman, Washington by parents, siblings and professionals to provide families with support and information using the Family Enrichment Weekend model. Families Together’s programs are designed to build and sustain strong, healthy, informed, and actively involved family members who can work together to improve the lifelong outcomes for their child or sibling with a disability.

Family Promise of the Palouse (2013-2015)

  • Family Promise of the Palouse is a nonprofit organization that operates through an Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) to provide immediate shelter to homeless families in our community while helping people achieve lasting independence. Their IHN is a partnership of interfaith congregations in our community helping families who are facing homelessness.

Hope Center (2009-2015)

  • A inter-denominational Christian non-profit organization committed to: Helping others pursue excellence. Poverty is traditionally thought of as a lack of resources. However, when people in poverty are asked to describe their situation, they mention a lack of material things, but also use words like shame, humiliation, hopelessness, fear, and social isolation. The HOPE Center seeks to address not only the material, but also the social, relational, and spiritual aspects of poverty.

Light a Candle – Gritman Medical Center (2011-2015)

  • The Light a Candle program raises funds for services, helping cancer patients improve their quality of life and easing some of the pressure that comes with facing cancer. Some of the services made available through the Light a Candle program include: Housekeeping, gas cards, grocery assistance, massage, and others as requested.

Meals on Wheels-Moscow (2009-2010)

Mobile Meals-Pullman (2009)

  • Home-delivered meals and supplements – also known as Meals on Wheels, provides prepared food to seniors and people with disabilities. With the help of volunteers, the Pullman Community Council on Aging in partnership with the Council on Aging & Human Services, makes deliveries of Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors in Pullman.

Palouse Resource Network (2010, 2012-2014)

  • The Palouse Resource Network for Families is a consortium of agencies and community members coordinating efforts to strengthen families on the Palouse.

Pullman Child Welfare (2008-2015)

  • Serves children and families throughout the Pullman School District by providing food, school shoes (2 times per year) and supplies, Coats for Kids, snow boots, Christmas Sharing Tree (approximately 400 children receive gifts).

Sojourner’s Alliance (2012-2015)

  • Sojourners’ Alliance operates a transitional housing facility for homeless men, women and families. Our program offers long-term housing, supplemental food assistance, on-site case management, counseling services, and referrals to other area agencies in an effort to help our clients become self-sufficient and get back on their feet.

St. Vincent de Paul (2010-2015)

  • The St. Vincent de Paul Society in Latah County is a charitable organization run by volunteers. The conference responds to the needs of the poor and people in crisis situation. They visit in teams of two everyone who requests help, then meet as a group weekly to prayerfully seek guidance as to how best to help those in need.

Success by 6 of the Palouse (2006-2015)

  • Success By 6 of the Palouse is a nonprofit organization dedicated to: raising public awareness and educating the community on the importance of early childhood development and school readiness; continually improving access to services for all children in the community; expanding and improving collaboration among private and public service groups; and assuring that all children, by age six, have the necessary emotional, physical and social development to successfully embrace the educational and social opportunities necessary for growth and learning.

Young Children & Family Programs (2007-2008)

  • Palouse Industries’ offers family support services through its Young Children and Family Programs of the Palouse (YCFP). YCFP offers home visiting and group-based parenting programs for families in Latah and Whitman Counties. Two prominent programs offered to interested families include:Parents as Teachers and Nurturing Parenting.
